This Is What You Should Consider When Buying a Flat Screen TV

Pinto Fetzer | November 14, 2009

Although it may seem brand new the technology behind flat screen TV has been around for a number of years. This technology was once considered to be unobtainable however due to advancements in manufacturing it is now easier to produce and as a result more affordable to everyone. Because of the availability of the Flat screen TV we as consumers are now coming to expect the same level of clarity and satisfaction in the other consumer electronics which we consume daily.

With additional components to add to the viewing experience such as high-end speakers wall mounts and specialized furniture the flat screen TV has become a staple of the home theater system. Because of the underlying technology that exists within a good unit the consumer is treated to a full movie theater experience within their own home. Because of the every increasing proficiency of production as well as the cheapening of raw materials and Improvements on technology the level of consumer satisfaction and access to superior quality products will only get better.

The amazing products of technology utilize neon and xenon gasses which produce their stunning colors. These gasses are safe and they are captured between two panels of flat glass. This procedure allows for the display of 16000000 colors which is what provides such a superior picture.

One way to measure the longevity of a flat screen TV is the number of hours to its half life which occurs when the quality of the picture is reduced by half. Most have approximately 60 000 hours to half life. An excellent warranty that includes free or low-cost service will contribute to full enjoyment of every hour.

You’ll find that the standard flat screen TV is about 4 to 5 inches deep and is thinner than your normal television. This feature allows you more options on where you would like to place your TV in your home. Mounting it on the wall becomes an option that you didn’t have with your previous TVs.

The flat screen TV is a delicate piece of equipment and this needs to be taken into consideration when moving and placing it. Even small bumps can cause unexpected problems in screen quality and if a repair is possible it can be quite expensive. Another benefit of placing it on the wall is that it is out of reach of children and animals. Wall mounts are available to allow the television to tilt downward and adjust for proper viewing comfort.

As they become more widely available specialized furniture and cabinets have also come on the market. These accessories are available to match the personal style of every flat screen TV owner. Home entertainment cabinets made from classic hardwoods can hold a flat screen TV in addition to other equipment.

Even if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on this furniture you can find contemporary designs at low costs. The consumer may also use what furniture they currently have as long as it is sturdy and reliable. To safeguard this investment all mounts and surfaces should be fully tested to hold more than the weight of the television itself. Again because this is still a delicate piece of equipment we must avoid bumping it or jostling it if possible.

When considering how much to spend when you buy a flat screen TV make sure to not only consider the actual television itself but also a warranty furniture like cabinets and accessories as well as any delivery costs. You also will be using more electricity a larger television will use more electricity but given time we will soon have mass produced units that are more durable more efficient and less expensive for everybody. However until then the current flat screen TVs are still the pinnacle of modern technology.

Technological Advances In Sony Televisions

Matthew Kerridge | November 14, 2009

Television has come a long way since it first became a household item; with its black and white picture and giant dial to change the channels by. Today there are plenty of models that have stunning picture quality as well as features that past generations would never have dreamed up. Sony is well known for its LCD, Plasma, OLED, and CRT televisions. With all the Sony televisions on the market, it’s hard to know what each one offers. The following descriptions might help to enlighten future consumers.

OLED- With the help of organic matter, newer televisions are able to produce images that aren’t disrupted by ambient light. Televisions containing Organic Light Emitting Diodes use carbon for image production. The set up consists of two conductors with carbon pressed between them, then all of this is placed between two plates of glass. Electricity is added to the carbon through the conductors and a light is produced from the organic matter. Contrast of the images is of a superior quality.

Plasma Screens-Displays with plasma are often mistaken for LCD televisions, due to their similar appearance. Televisions with plasma screens are usually at least 32 inches or more in size. Their flat screen is a double pane filled with noble gases. When electricity hits the gases, it is the turned into plasma and a light is emitted from it. The images displayed on plasma televisions are usually very bright. More electricity is used when the scenes are bright and less power is drawn during darker scenes.

OLED- These Organic Light Emitting Diode televisions consist of carbon pressed between two conductors which is in the middle of two plates of glass.

Panels of LCD televisions are flat and very thin, which makes them easily mounted onto a wall. These are generally lightweight machines and using little electricity. Due to the advanced technology, the screens are able to be quite a bit larger than televisions originally were. Vibrant images with excellent contrast are produced by LCD televisions.

CRT- Televisions with cathode ray tubes consist of vacuum tubes with a fluorescent screen and an electron gun. The electron beams are shot through the colored tubes, then deflected, causing an image on the screen. Some televisions on the market are still containing this internal set up, but many have been replaced by plasma and LCD panels. Although they are planning on phasing them out eventually, Sony does still offer this model with a 32″ screen.

Televisions of today can be small enough to fit in a human hand or large enough to take up an entire wall. Sony televisions are produced in a size range of 32 inches to 70 inches, with resolutions between 576p and 1080p. Features offered on many televisions Sony manufactures include; auto power off, parental controls, picture-in-a-picture, anti-glare coating, video noise reduction, scanning, and Mp3 playback. All these models of today show just how far technology has come with televisions.

The Advantages of Top Loading and Front Loading Washing Machines

Martin Elmer | November 14, 2009

Do you not know, which type of washing machine, you should buy, a top loaded or a front loaded model, then read on to learn about the differences between the two models.

The top loading washing machine is a classic in most homes in USA. It is difficult to find a housewife who has not used this model at some point. And it is also a great model for many reasons.

It is faster to wash with a top loaded washing machine than a front loaded model. The washing cycle is shorter. It is also easier to load the clothes in the washing machine, because you do not have to bend down. Finally it is cheaper to buy than the frontloaded version.

But it does also have some disadvantages. Because of the use of an agitator, there will be greater wear and tear in the clothes. But more serious it is also less energy effective, because of the use of more water and electricity.

The front loading washing machine is already very popular in most European countries. And more and more people are also buying it in USA. The reason is first of all because it is more energy effective than the top loaded model.

If you are washing the same amount of clothes, the front loading machine uses up 60 % less electricity and water compared to the top loader version. So this type might be more expensive, but the savings in the everyday life can be significant.

The front loader version is also smaller; even though the capacity is the same. Most people will probably also find it both sleeker and better looking than the traditional top loading model.

But the frontloaded washing machine does also have its share of disadvantages. It is more expensive upfront than the top loader model. And it is also more difficult to load, which can be a problem for older people. The washing time is also longer (because it does not use an agitator).

So which type should you choose? Well, it depends. If you care for the environment (and your money) you should choose a frontloaded washing machine. It uses much less water and energy.

On the other hand, if you want to wash your clothes fast, the top loaded washing machine will be the best option. The same apply if you are having back problems.

The Panasonic Viera TX-L32S10 – One For Your Shortlist

Claire Gallagher | November 13, 2009

If you are considering purchasing a flat screen set, there are numerous options which are available and it may be difficult to decide which television is the best model for you. If you are interested in a good entry level TV set, you should seriously consider the Panasonic TX-L32S10.

This is one model in Panasonic’s very popular Viera line of flat screen television sets. It is a LCD television, which sets it apart from other flat screen televisions that use plasma technology to operate. There are many features in the Viera line which make them user friendly and the TX-L32S10 has a number of them. They include V-Audio Surround Sound and Viera Link networking capabilities. The excellent thing about this model’s surround sound is that it uses sensory technology to gage the size of the room and adjusts the sound accordingly.

The TX-L32S10 television is very adaptable to different uses and has four different picture modes to support movies, gaming, dynamic and normal views. The screen is TV up to accommodate large groups gathered around by allowing for a wide viewing angle. The viewing angle is a full 178 degrees which provides plenty of distortion free viewing pleasure.

As well, although the screen on the TX-L32S10 showed very good black and white uniformity, there were some issues with elements of image quality. They included the tendency for the pixels to be somewhat undefined at the edges of the screen. Some users have felt that this may be due to the TV set’s gaming applications since this can reduce aliasing during gaming. In addition, because there is not true 1:1 screen pixel mapping, it may not be possible to use this TV for viewing items that are text-based.

If you are not comfortable with a number of different AV components, there are features to this TV set which you will appreciate. Viera link technology is a wonderful asset since you are now able to simply connect your AV components with an HDMI cable and connect it to the TX-L32S10 set. At this point, it is suddenly possible to control diverse AV elements with one controller. And what a controller it is, too. Like most Panasonic remotes it is well thought out, simply designed, and quite functional.

If you have an interest in digital photography, there are two features which make the TX-L32S10 an excellent choice. The first is the capacity for the set to accept SD memory cards via a slot in the unit and display the contents of the card onscreen. The second is that any new LUMIX camera that is equipped with an HDMI output terminal can be connected to the TV set via a cable and you can also view your digital images in that way. This is an excellent feature for people who want to display their images to family and friends but do not want to be tied to using a computer.

There are some elements which may not be as highly developed in this TX-L32S10 TV as in higher priced models. While at first glance the high-gloss black finish may look excellent, if you are someone who hates visible smudges and fingerprints you may be interested in a model with a different finish on the housing. Screen images are excellent with this model however some performance users may not like the fact that the screen cannot be calibrated on a detail level.

If you are looking for an excellent and well-rounded television set, the Panasonic TX-L32S10 is an excellent option for the price. Its slim design, excellent viewing area and 32″ screen size make it a wonderful value for money. If you are trying to find a TV set that will work well for movies, gaming and every day applications, the Panasonic Viera TX-L32S10 is worth taking a look at.

A Look at the Sony Bravia KDL37W5500

Frederick Baker | November 13, 2009

One of the latest products to come from Sony, the Sony KDL37W5500 is a midrange LCD flat panel tv set which certainly does not disappoint in any respect. While you have to expect to pay quite a lot of money for tvs of this quality, you certainly do get what you pay for and you will be very impressed with the quality and is abundance of extra features.

When you get the KDL37W5500, you’ll find that it is quick and easy to set up with minimal configuration required. However, it still has all the connection options that you would expect from a model of this price including the ability to wire up your computer or a digital camera and of course any games console you might have.

However, it’s not as important as people might think it is and there is far more to picture quality than just resolution itself. Firstly, perhaps even more importantly, is the picture processing techniques that are used by the screen. The picture processing techniques that you will find in the KDL37W5500 remake the pictures look extremely clear and vibrant with highly enhanced colours and good blacks.

Also included in the KDL37W5500 is the ability to customise various aspects of the picture to make it suits better your individual preferences. Although many users might not be concerned about this, it is a nice extra to have and something that will also make the screen more attractive to higher end users and people who are particularly experienced.

Nonetheless, there is no special knowledge you need to use the KDL37W5500, to tv set it up and to fully customizable to television it up. Once you take it out of the box, it will not take a lot of time to set it up and install all your gear. The remote control also gives you all the options you need in order to control and easy to use and very user friendly interface.

The Sony KDL37W5500 also comes with various presets allowing you to change the quality was just a click of a couple of buttons to optimise it for various forms of media. For example, if you are using the screen to play games, you can use game mode preset. Alternatively, if you are watching movies, you can use the applicable preset. This again makes the screen more versatile, by optimising it for different forms of media.

Another very important factor when it comes to buying a higher end LCD flat panel, is the connection options that it has. You don’t need to worry about being able to plug in any games console or just about anything else you would want, including a personal computer. You can also wire up your camera to it, depending on your camera enabling you to view pictures directly on the KDL37W5500.

You can easily connect your computer to the KDL37W5500 or just about any other peripheral you could possibly want. However, you won’t need to go out and buy a separate FreeView tuner since it has one built in as do many new flat screen tvs have these days. You won’t be disappointed by this product, and asking price is very reasonable, especially when you consider the quality and the amount of features that has with it.
